124,072. Carper, J. B., and Tulloch, T. G. March 23, 1918. Oils for burning; fats, extracting.-A mineral oil mixture for use as a solvent for animal fats is obtained by mixing light shale oil, of specific gravity 0.7 or less, with heavier coal-tar oils, of specific gravity 0.8 to 0.95, washing the mixture successively with sulphuric acid, caustic soda, and water, and then obtaining distillates from the mixture up to temperatures of from 165 to 200‹ C., according to the required use. According to one of the Provisional Specifications, the product distilled off up to about 180‹ C. may be used as fuel in internal-combustion engines.
