Abstract

23,014. Heyl, G. E., and Baker, T. T. Nov. 24. Oils and spirits for burning.-A fuel for internal-combustion engines consists of petrol, paraffin oil, or other usual spirit mixed with the 170-230‹ C. distillate of coal or analogous tar. The distillate is previously freed from acids, bases, and naphthalene by alkali, acid, and cooling, and is distilled once or twice to a temperature approaching 230‹ C.
