Abstract
1,240,706. Photographic physical developers. EASTMAN KODAK CO. July 12, 1968 [April 22, 1968], No.6134/71. Divided out of 1,240,705. Heading G2C. A photographic physical developer for a latent palladium image comprises a reducible watersoluble heavy metal salt (i.e. a salt of a Group IB, Group VIB or Group VIII metal), a reducing agent therefor, a complexing agent for the heavy metal ions and a complexing agent for palladium ions which is gluconic acid, saccharic acid or quinic acid or a salt thereof. Heavy metal salts specified are those of Ni, Co, Fe, Cu, Cr, Pd, Pt, Ag or Au; reducing agents include HCHO, hypophosphites, hydrosulphites, borohydrides, borane amines and hydrazine; and complexing agents for the heavy metal ions include NH 4 Cl, aspartic, malic, citric or glycolic acids, sodium or potassium citrate glycolate or succinate or potassium sodium tartrate. The developer may also contain stannous ions.
