Abstract

1,240,149. Rolling mills. SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. 23 July, 1968 [5 Aug., 1967], No. 35073/68. Heading B3M. A rolling mill includes skewed rolls 37 which are rotated in a carrier 10 about a workpiece 15 such that the rolls feed the workpiece forward but do not rotate it. The rolls are driven through bevel gearing by planet wheels 44 mounted in the carrier 10, a driving pinion 47 serving to rotate the carrier. The planet wheels mesh with a sleeve 11 which is normally stationary. If, however, rotation of the workpiece is sensed by a detector 54, appropriate signals are fed to a motor 14 driving the sleeve. The sleeve is then driven to prevent rotation of the workpiece. The rolls are axially adjustable.
