Abstract

1,212,564. Rolling. DEMAG A.G. 28 May, 1968 [23 June, 1967], No. 25553/68. Heading B3M. A metal workpiece is rolled by a roll which rotates about its axis and is moved in the same direction as the workpiece but at a different speed from the workpiece. The workpiece can be a continuous casting or can be pre-rolled. Each of a pair of work rolls 5 is carried in a support which is driven with a compound motion along a path 18. The support is connected by a crank 8 to a driving wheel 10, and is also connected to an eccentric shaft 12. The shaft is driven by a disc 11 which may be drivingly coupled to the wheel 10 by a roll 16 or be individually driven. A supporting roll 17 for the work roll 5 may be provided on the support.
