Abstract
1,239,629. Propeller drive arrangements. G. POSCHEL. 19 July, 1968 [22 July, 1967], No. 34660/68. Headings B7G and B7W. An aircraft has a propeller and drive system comprising a propeller 1 mounted on a vertical fin 3 above the fuselage 2. The propeller is driven by an engine or engines 4 through shafts 6, 7, a bevel gear 8 which acts primarily to change the direction of the shaft drive but which may also effect some reduction in speed, and a bevel gear 9 which both reduces the speed to that best suited to the propeller and changes the direction of the shaft drive. A fan 5 on shaft 6 cools the engine 4. It is stated that the invention gives a wide speed range to the aircraft.
