1330852 Cooling gearing MOTOR GEAR & ENG CO Ltd 23 Dec 1971 [16 Oct 1970] 49221/70 Heading F2Q A drive arrangement for a bladed rotor 1 such as a hovercraft or hydrofoil fan or propeller comprises a hollow driven shaft 2, the axis of which is at an angle to a driving shaft 3, and bevel gears 4, 5 between the driving and driven shafts. By making the driven shaft 2 hollow, the weight of the drive arrangement is decreased and air drawn through the driven shaft 2 during the rotation of the rotor cools the shaft and gear means.
