Abstract

1,238,652. Hammers. THOR HAMMER CO. Ltd. 3 Jan., 1969 [19 Oct., 1967], No. 47626/67. Heading B4C. A hammer head 10 contains granular material 12, e.g. metal shot and includes discs 13 secured to tubular portion 11 by brazing. Each disc has a projection 16 which is received within a recess in a striking face 19. The projections are provided with surface formations (Fig. 2) which serve to prevent relative axial movement between the striking faces and the head. Additional fixing means e.g. a pin B or screw A or an adhesive may be used. The interior of the head may be lined with P.T.F.E. to reduce frictional resistance to movement of the material 12. Each striking face is made of plastics, e.g. nylon, or of rubber. Projecting teeth may be provided on the inner surface of the ends 15 of the tubular portion and/or on the outer surfaces of the discs 13 to prevent relative rotation between the faces and the head.
