Abstract

1,237,063. Stud and socket fastenings. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. 14 Oct., 1969 [7 Jan., 1969], No. 1014/69. Heading E2B. [Also in Divisions F2] A synthetic plastics nut comprises a barrel 1, a flange 2, and cam surfaces 5 on the barrel, segments 6 of the flange being capable of flexing movements relative to the flange and parts 7 of the segments projecting below the plane of the flange. The nut cooperates with an aperture having slots extending laterally therefrom in a plate (Fig. 6, not shown). The barrel is passed through the aperture with the ribs 4 engaging the slots, and the nut is then turned, e.g. by a screwdriver engaging slot 8, until the segments 6 engage the slots. The nut is then secured to the plate by engagement of the cam surfaces with the plate and prevented from rotation by the engagement of the ribs with the slots.
