Abstract

[Also in Divisions H1 and H3- H5] An automatic non-return valve 46 for , a continuous flow liquid heater comprises a chamber 47 defined in a body 10 containing a cylindrical plastics case 48 closed at one end by a flanged base 49 and at the other end by a rubber plunger 50 which slides in case 48. The plunger has a raised annular rim 51 which when it is not subjected to pressures giving rise to forward or reverse flow, takes up the position shown in Fig. 4, where it lies across outlet port 14. Should reverse pressure tend to cause reverse flow from outlet 14 to inlet 13b, the plunger will be forced down to cover and seal inlet 13b (Fig. 5). Under normal flow conditions, plunger 50 is forced upwards so that rim 51 is clear of outlet 14.
