Abstract

1,236,102. Laminates. RAILKO Ltd. 20 March, 1969 [22 Feb., 1968], No. 8612/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions B2 and F2] A composite bearing material comprises a metal backing e.g. steel, aluminium or aluminium alloy or brass, to which is adherently attached a single layer matrix of polymeric plastics material other than a fluorocarbon reinforced with carbon or graphite fibres. The fibres may be dispersed in a resin matrix or be preformed into a woven or felted cloth which is impregnated. The lining may be applied to the backing by epoxy- or polyurethane adhesive and/or heat and pressure after the backing surface has been serrated, knurled, sand blasted or etched. Suitable resins are aminoformaldehyde, epoxies, phenolics, Friedel-Craft resins, unsaturated polyesters, polyimides, polyacetals, polyamides, polycarbonates, polyurethanes, acrylic and linear polyesters. Fillers and friction modifiers may also be included.
