Abstract

Transformers. - To avoid capacity effects in variable inductances in which a secondary reaction circuit is shortcircuited or closed through a variable resistance or in which a reaction member is moved with respect to the main coil, the reaction circuit or member is subdivided. As shown in Fig. 4, a number of separate secondary coils B<1>-B<5> surrounding the primary coil A and an insulating tube i are connected to variable resistances r<1>-r<5> which can be operated simultaneously or independently. As shown inFig. 5, a number of metal rings d, mounted together or separately upon insulating members e, can be moved axially into the primary coil. In the arrangements indicated in Fig. 7, metal rings h, mounted on an insulating plate j, Fig. 6, can be moved either axially or about a pivot o in relation to the primary coil f. Fig. 8 shows a variable Tesla transformer in which the inductance of main coils k, l is regulated by similar movable ring members v, v<1>.
