Abstract
1,235,299. Metal-vapour lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 6 Sept., 1968 [25 Sept., 1967], No. 42644/68. Heading H1D. A regenerative halide transport cycle is maintained in an arc discharge lamp containing a filling of mercury producing a pressure of 0À5-10 atmospheres in operation with a coldest wall temperature of 600-1200‹ C. and a halide other than the fluoride of at least sodium metal providing a partial pressure of each such halide of 0À1-200 torr., by adding to the filling a halide other than the fluoride of an element selected from Sn, Pb, Sb, Bi, Ge and Si, preferably stannous bromide, stannous iodide or stannous chloride. Argon at a pressure of 10 to 25 torr. may be included in the filling as a starting gas.
