Abstract

123,438. Mills, H. Markham-. March 27, 1918. Levels; gyroscopic apparatus.-An electrically driven gyroscopic wheel A is mounted on a quadrilateral frame B, the four corners, b<1>, b<1>, b<1>, b<1>, of which carry balls which traverse a circular ballrace c within the spherical casing C. The gyroscopic wheel is formed into a knife-edge periphery which rotates in close proximity to a window in the casing. Graduated scales c<1>, c<2> are fixed outside the casing and indicate the angular deflection of the apparatus from the constant plane of rotation of the wheel. The apparatus is secured to any part of an aircraft.
