Abstract

[Also in Division F4] A screw-threaded fastening comprises an externally screw-threaded member 1, an internally screw-threaded nut 2 adapted to engage the member 1, the minor diameter of the screwthread 5 of the nut 2 being less than the minor diameter of the screw-thread of the member 1 and the nut 2 being made of a resiliently deformable non-metallic material so that it is deformed by the member 1 when the nut and the member are screwed together. As shown, the member 1 comprises a bolt and the lock-nut is made of natural or synthetic rubber, &c. The major diameter of the thread on the nut may be less than or equal to that of the bolt. A lock-nut provided with a metal cover and a lock-nut having a flange are also described.
