Abstract

1,232,841. Smoke detectors. RADIOVISOR PARENT Ltd. and C. F. DIETRICHSEN. May 8, 1969 [May 9, 1968], No.22153/68. Heading G1A. [Also in Division G4] A smoke detection system includes a tube 3 having a plurality of T-junction pieces 4 at spaced intervals with substantially equal length pipes 5 of smaller bore than the tube attached at each junction piece, an air pump 2 draws air through said pipes and tube into a detector device 6 which provides an indication when smoke is present in the air-flow. When smoke is present light emenating from lamp 9 is scattered and falls on photocell 11 to give an output voltage which is amplified at 12 and operates a visual or audible alarm 13 or alternatively operates a control mechanism to reduce the fire hazard. Pump 2 of the diaphragm type driven by motor 2 and a flowmeter, preferably of the floating bobbin type, is provided so that a warning indication is obtained if the air-flow falls below a minimum value.
