Abstract

1,232,304. Automatic concentration control. TEXMA MASCHINEN - G. m.b.H. [trading as SUCKER GEB.], Aug.29, 1968 [Sept. 8, 1967], No. 41249/68. Heading G3R. The quantity of weighting agent absorbed by a fibre threadband travelling through a treatment bath 1 is detected by a detector 7 and when this quantity deviates from a desired value the ratio of the quantity of concentrated weighting agent to the quantity of diluting liquid fed to a mixing apparatus 4 is altered so that the concentration in the treatment bath 1 will be varied to maintain the quantity of weighting agent absorbed constant, the total quantity of diluting liquid and weighting agent fed to the mixer 4 also being controlled in dependence on the consumption in the treatment bath 1. As shown diluting liquid 6 and weighting agent 5 are fed through respective measuring pumps 10, 11 driven through individual adjustable gearings 12, 13 by a common regulating drive 14. It is preferable to adjust gearings 12, 13 in opposite senses on deviations sensed by detector 7 to maintain the total quantity supplied to mixer 4 constant. The consumption in the treatment bath is determined by two liquid level detectors 15, 16 in overflow through 1a which control regulating motor 14 to maintain the quantity of liquid in the treatment bath constant between limits. A temperature sensing element 4e in the mixer controls a valve 4d in a steam heating line to maintain the temperature of the mixed fluid constant. The speed of motor 14 is preferably controlled in dependence on the speed of the fibre.
