Abstract

1,172,961. Mixing inflow. K. RICHARDS. 9 Jan., 1968, No. 1299/68. Heading B1C. '[Also in Division G3] Apparatus for chlorinating a flow of water comprises a receptacle 14 having internal walls 68 with serrated bottom edges (see Fig. 4, not shown) retaining calcium hypochlorite 74 preferably in tablet form. Water flows from the apertures 76 in conduit branch 50, across the sloping bottom 64 dissolving the hypochlorite, and passes through a gap 66 to fall into a reservoir (not depicted), being diluted by water from apertures 78 in conduit branch 56. The 'supply of water is controlled by a device (see Division G3) actuated by a float 150 in the reservoir of chlorinated water. The rate of water flow through the apparatus (and hence the rate of chlorination of the reservoir) may be adjusted by altering the angle of the overflow elbow 80, and the proportion of dilating water added by altering that of elbow 52; the overflow water flows into the reservoir.
