Abstract

1,093,810. Silver recovery apparatus. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Nov. 10, 1966 [Nov. 10 1965], No. 50430/66. Heading B1X. A silver recovery apparatus comprises container 12 having steel wool filling 14 around central passageway 34, and fluid supply means 16 which is releasably attached to the top of the container and has concentric inlet and outlet conduits (42), (56), the inlet conduit extending into passageway (34) and the outlet conduit extending into the space 36 between the top of the container and the filling 14. In operation, used photographic fixing solution is fed in through conduit (42), passes into the space 24 at the bottom of container 12 and flows upwardly through apertures 28 in diffusion plate 20 and into the filling element 14. The silver is deposited as a sludge in element 14, and silver-free solution collects in space 36 and is withdrawn through outlet conduit (56). Safety valves may be provided in the fluid conduits.
