Abstract

123,161. Morgan, H. R. Feb. 14, 1918. Valve-gear.-To prevent the actuation of valves located in the head of a cylinder from being affected by the expansion of the cylinder, a rocking-lever d is pivoted to a link b connected at one end by a bracket a to the cylinder and at the other end by a rod e to an element, such as a crank casing, not subject to the high temperature of the working fluid. A modified construction is described in which a bell-crank for actuating a valve is supported by a link connected at one end to a bracket on the cylinder, and at its other end by a link to a part of the engine remote from the head of the cylinder.
