Abstract
1,231,163. Forming flat coils. ETABS. SUPERBA S.A. 27 Feb.; 1969 [27 Feb., 1968], No. 10462/69. Heading D1T. Overlapping flat coils of thread or bundles of threads 17 are laid on a moving friction belt 18 prior to treatment such as drying or steaming by means of apparatus comprising a rotating guide arm 2 through which the thread passes and which wraps the thread between consecutive teeth of synchronised rotating toothed wheels 4, which then carry the thread loops downwards, the loop circumference being maintained constant by guides 8, 10. As they near the belt 18, portions 17b of the loops pass over a roller or slide 12, which presses them into contact with the belt, and sliding portions 9 of the guides hold the thread loops .against the belt until they have passed away from the apparatus. The apparatus is prevented from rotating bodily by fixed plates 15, which engage peripheral grooves in the teeth of wheels 4 without impeding the passing of the thread loops. A heat resistant, airpermeable endless belt may be' arranged below the end roller of friction belt 18 to carry the coil through subsequent processes. By passing the threads 17 into the guide arm 11 via its axis of rotation, a single twist is inserted in each coil, this twist being removed when the bundle of threads is drawn out straight after processing, enabling the threads to be easily separated, e.g. for individual windings.
