Abstract

1,230,707. Venetian blinds. SILVERFLEX INTERNATIONAL N.V. 18 Sept., 1969 [19 Sept., 1968], No. 46100/69. Heading E1J. A Venetian blind operating device comprises a head rail 1 which carries as by a flexible coupling 12 a freely hanging tubular member 13 through which the lifting and lowering cords 4, 5 extend, the member 13 being rotatable about, its longitudinal axis to operate a warm gear 9 geared to the tilt shaft 6 and the member 13 incorporates a cord-like or lock 15 for releasably clamping the cords 4, 5. The cord-brake comprises a spring 26 which urges the cone 19 towards a position in which the cords 4, 5 are clamped against the interior conical surface of the block 23 held within the end 14, or 24, of the member 13. In an alternative cord-brake a spring biased L-shaped member is pivoted intermediate the ends of one arm and spring pressed at the junction of the arms to cause the end of the other arm to clamp the cords 4, 5 against the housing containing the L-shaped member which is operated to release the cords against the spring pressure by a press-button.
