Abstract

1,230,268. Cooling pistons. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 6 Dec., 1969, No. 59682/69. Heading F2T. An I.C. engine connecting-rod is forged and has a cylindrical oil chamber drilled in its end, the rim 25 of which is spaced from the underside surface of the piston head so that oil in flowing from the chamber back to the engine sump cools the piston head. The oil is pumped to the chamber through a duct 19 and a groove 13 in a bearing bush 11.
