Abstract

1,228,988. Gas-fuelled lighters. FABBRICHE FIAMMIFERI ED AFFINI S.A.F.F.A. S.p.A. 26 July, 1968 [8 Aug., 1967], No. 35792/68. Heading F4F. The casing 1 of a lighter contains liquefied gas and supports a discharge valve having a cup-shaped member 11 adapted to be filled with liquefied gas when the lighter is handled prior to operation. The discharge valve has a casing 3 into which is screwed a tubular member 18 which slidably supports a burner 28. The burner 28 supports a valve closure member 26 adapted to abut a valve seat 25 formed on an apertured disc 22 which abuts a layer of porous material 23 and is situated between one end of the tubular member 18 and the casing 3. The cup 11 is threaded on to a stem portion 8 of the casing 3 and communicates with the valve seat 25 via passages 14, 15 in the casing.
