Abstract

1,139,489. Gas fueled lighters. HOWARD WALL Ltd. 27 Dec., 1967 [3 Nov., 1966], No. 49257/66. Heading F4F. A gas fueled lighter comprises a reservoir formed of a top plate 11 having a fitted burner valve 14, a bottom plate 12 having a fitted filler valve 21 and a cylindrical body portion 13, the plates having annular grooves 28, 29, containing gaskets 26, to receive the ends of portion 13 and being connected by flint tube 22. The gaskets may be of rubber and the valves fitted to the plates from their inner faces before assembly of the lighter. Flint tube 22 is rigidly fixed to plate 11 but at its lower end receives a nut 25 threaded thereon from the outer face of plate 12. Ignition is by knurled wheel 15 and flint 24 using a known manually operable lever mechanism 19 loaded by spring 18 within a sleeve 17 fixed to plate 11. Valves 14 and 21 may be located both on the same side of tube 22 and the reservoir volume between them filled with a throttling wadding 33.
