1,228,927. Cylinder lock mechanisms. M. SIEVERS [trading as CARL SIEVERS]. 7 Nov., 1968 [11 Nov., 1967], No. 52767/68. Heading E2A. A lock mechanism has a barrel 2 with a key slot 3 and a seal 12 for the key slot, the seal comprising two portions G each having a lip 10 and having been fitted to the barrel so as to be flexibly deformed the lips converging inwardly of the key slot in the key insertion direction to define a fissure 11 and being in sealing engagement with one another when the key slot is vacant, by virtue of being resiliently stressed against one another as a result of the flexible deformation of said portions. In the construction shown at each end, each lip has a shoulder 13 and the shoulders 13 of the two portions 9 have surfaces 14 which are pressed against each other when the two seal portions are forced into position in a recess 8 of the barrel; the seal is retained in position by a cap 7 the cap having a key aperture 6.
