Abstract

1309290 Safety closures C PETRONELLI and G M PARK 16 June 1970 [19 June 1969 28 Oct 1969] 29221/70 Heading B8T A child-proof closure comprises an inner cap 1 which screws on to or into a container and an outer ring 2 which fits over, is retained on and covers the cap 1. A clutch is provided having one part on the cap 1 and one on the ring 2 so that the cap 1 can only be unscrewed from the container when the ring 2 is moved to its axial limit in the axial direction of unscrewing. As shown, the inner cap has a groove 4 bounded by two ridges 5 and 6 which carry clutch surfaces 7, 13. The outer ring of a ridge 3 has clutch surfaces 8, 14 which co-operate with the clutch surfaces on the inner cap. The cap and ring are manufactured separately and are assembled whilst hot after release from the mould.
