Abstract

1,227,605. Cathode-ray tubes; travelling- wave tubes. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 25 June, 1968 [11 July, 1967; 12 July, 1967], No. 30247/68. Heading H1D. [Also in Division H2] A coaxial transmission line is connected at right angles to the axis of a shielded, flat-strip helical slow wave circuit, e.g. a travelling wave deflecting line for ultra broad-band cathode-ray tubes, maintaining a satisfactory impedance match at the connection. The inner conductor 1 of the coaxial line has a tapered threaded portion 6 for engagement with a tapped hole in an L-shaped terminal tag 71 provided at one end of a conductive flat-strip helix 7. The outer conductor 2 of the coaxial line carries a screwthreaded portion 3, of different pitch from that at 6, for engagement with a collar 4 attached to the outer conductor 5 of the slow wave circuit. Terminal tag 71 abuts a dielectric member 10 when the connection is fully tightened. The flat strip helix 7 is wound on a dielectric plate 8 and secured to the inner wall of the outer conductor 5 via an intermediate dielectric layer 9.
