Abstract

1,227,539. Valves. MASSEY-FERGUSONPERKINS Ltd. 5 Nov., 1968 [30 Nov., 1967], No. 54446/67. Heading F2V. A sliding spool valve of the self-centring type biased to a neutral centre position by a spring 25, is provided with detent means for positively holding the spool in its operated positions, e.g. when a continuously running hydraulic motor is to be operated from service ports 51, 56, and selector means for rendering the detent means inoperative and incapable of restraining the spool, e.g. when controlling a ram. In the holding mode, spring-urged detent balls 32 housed in the spool engage in grooves 36, 37 in a rotatably adjustable selector member 34 which forms also a sealed end closure for the housing 11. On releasing a spring clip 42 and adjusting the member 34 through 90 degrees, the balls run in longitudinal grooves (38), Fig. 2 (not shown), and are inoperative. The housing includes pressure port 55, exhaust ports 50, 57, and a connecting gallery 54 to a second spool. The spools are operated by handles (45) through shafts (44) carrying ball-headed pins (43) engaging in eyes (14), Fig. 3 (not shown).
