1,227,456. Wire supply pack. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 19 Aug., 1968 [22 Aug., 1967], No. 39642/68. Heading B8H. A wire supply pack consists of a flangeless core 9 on which a metal wire is wound, and is characterized in that the width of the winding decreases in the axial direction of the core as the distance from the axis increases and the pitch between adjacent turns in a layer of the winding is from 0À01 to 0À1 times the average external diameter of the core. Such a configuration of wire winding prevents breakage of wire during unreeling. In a further embodiment the external diameter of that portion of the core surrounded by the winding increases towards one or both ends of the core, the acute angle between the axis of the core and the tangent to the core surface not exceeding 25 degrees.
