Abstract

1,226,588. Feeding sheets. CANADIAN STACKPOLE Ltd. 16 Oct., 1968 [1 Nov., 1967], No. 49164/68. Heading B8R. Sheets are separated from a stack 5 in a magazine having a spring-loaded back-plate 3 and front plates 6, 7 defining a discharge opening by means of a rubber or like resilient finger 9 secured in a recess in a roller 8. The finger draws the edge of the sheet from behind the plate 6, whence the free edge enters the recess behind the finger, the sheet then entering the nip between the roller 8 and a rubber-covered roller 11 and being fed to a labelling-machine 16, 17. Either the plate 7 is curved as shown or a guide roller is provided just inwards of it. A guide plate 15 having ribs entering grooves in the roller 8 strips the sheet from the roller. The roller 8 rotates about a vertical axis, and two magazines with corresponding fingers may be spaced along it for feeding labels for a bottle neck and body.
