Abstract

1427050 Feeding sheets FUJI XEROX CO Ltd 12 Dec 1973 [20 April 1973] 57647/73 Heading B8R Sheets are separated by a pneumatic separator from the top of a pile supported in a tray 9, Figs. 2 and 4, which is slidably supported on a platform 11, and fed by electrically grounded rollers to a processing-machine, the tray 9 incorporating at the rear end a device for applying an electrostatic charge to the edge of the pile to tend to separate the sheets from each other and thus prevent double feed. The device is separated from the pile by a removable screen 14 and comprises a plurality of needle electrodes 16 connected to a high tension D.C. source 18 and a plurality of grounded electrodes 17. The D.C. supply is automatically cut off when a door is opened for insertion of a pile of sheets into the tray.
