Abstract

1,226,168. Detachable jib-cranes on vehicles. SESAM A.S. 14 Nov., 1968 [14 Nov., 1967,] No. 54037/68. Headings B8E and B8H. A jib crane, which may be readily coupled to and uncoupled from a truck, is arranged to be mounted on and removed from the truck by means of its hydraulically-actuated boom assembly. As shown, the crane consists of a main boom 2, which is pivotally mounted on a rotatable column in a tubular base member 1, an outer telescopic boom 3, 4, 5, pivotally mounted on the outer end of the boom 2 and connected thereto by an hydraulic ram 6, and an hydraulic ground-engaging support 7, 8. Coupling devices 10, 11, 18 provided on the crane are adapted to engage devices 12, 13, 15 on the truck. In operation, to move the crane from the ground, through the broken-line position to the full-line position, the crane is raised to the broken line position by actuation of the support 7, 8 and of the jib, the outer end of which engages the ground. The crane is then propped in this position and the hollow outer end of the jib is engaged with a bolt 17 pivotally mounted on the truck frame. By pivoting and telescopically retracting the boom sections 2, 3 and 4, 5 the crane pulls itself on to the truck to engage the coupling devices. The crane is removed from the truck by reversing the above sequence.
