Abstract

1,225,482. Selective printing. INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd. 2 May, 1968 [21 May, 1967; 24 May, 1967; 7 March, 1968], Nos. 20184/67, 24059/67 and 11105/68. Heading B6F. [Also in Division B8] Paper feeding apparatus including a bed 8 having a planar surface supporting a web 9 further includes a hold-back device 13 for limiting reverse feed of the web, the hold-back device comprising a resiliently biased wedging member 23, and means for releasing the web from the wedging action of the member 23 mounted in a gap in the web-supporting surface of the bed 8. The means for releasing the web may comprise a roller 26 rotatable only in the direction C, or in a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) comprises a block (128) of hard material of low coefficient of friction such as sapphire set into the bed (116). The piper feeding apparatus is included in a high-speed printer of the kind having a continuously rotating type drum (5, Fig. 1) co-operating with selectively actuable hammers (17).
