Abstract

1,223,407. Aerial delivery container. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 20 Feb., 1969 [22 Feb., 1968], No. 9355/69. Heading B8D. An aerial delivery container for liquids such as petrol incorporates a rigid spout that terminates at its inner end with a flexible, flattened and self-sealing tube. In a preferred embodiment the spout 9 (see Fig. 1) is embedded in the double walls 1, 3 of a container by wing-like projections (15, Fig. 3, not reproduced), and is welded to a flexible tube that has been flattened by longitudinal welding 18 (see Fig. 5), and further by the surrounding liquid pressure. The seal may be improved by a plug 11 (Fig. 1) located by a toggle 12, these being attached to the container by a welded strip. The upper ends of the container walls are welded at 2, 4 to support a hand-hold 6 and a detachable spout 7 that is used to force open the tube 10. The flexible tube wall thickness is preferably in the range 0À3 to 0À6 mm., and is at least 100 mm. in length. Thermoplastic material or an elastomer, such as those based on polyurethane or a rubber, may be used for the constituent parts of the container.
