Abstract

1366012 Packages F LERCHE-SVENDSEN 30 Aug 1972 [31 Aug 1971] 40206/72 Heading B8C In a method of filling a large flexible tubular container 5, e.g. of extruded mono-axially oriented thermoplastics, with bulk granular, powdered, or viscous liquid material, a filling hose 1 extends the length of the container to within a short distance of the closed end (Fig. 5), the hose being secured to opposed walls 6, 7 of the flattened container by a bond that is stronger than strength of walls 4 defining the filling duct 2. As material is pumped through hose 1, the container expands from its closed end as filling proceeds and walls 4 turn progressively towards the open end of the container. Displaced air leaves the container through a relief valve, and sealing at both ends may be by heat-welding, glueing or stitching, after the introduction of an inert gas if necessary. Walls 4 are weakened by threads, slits or ducts.
