Abstract

1,115,536. Container closures; closing devices on bags; portable containers. A. M. HERZIG. 18 April, 1967, No. 17755/67. Headings B8D, B8K and B8T. A bag 20, or other container, has a neck 22 of flexible material to which is secured a resilient member 42 having a permanent set, as shown, which causes the neck 22 to be bent and therefore to close the container. The bag 20, of elastomeric material, polyethylene or vinyl plastics, is collapsible to allow the contents to be squeezed out through the neck 22, the pressure so applied causing the neck and member 42 to straighten. The bag may be formed from a tubular material which is narrowed at the neck and heat-sealed at 34, 35, the opposite end being similarly sealed at 24. The member 42 may be secured to the neck by gluing or sealing or by tabs 46, 47; it may be of metal or plastics. The container may be rigid and have a flexible neck to which a member 42 is attached. One of the layers of material at the neck may be less flexible than the other. The contents may be oil or toothpaste.
