Abstract

1,221,825. Fuel injection pumps. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. April 11, 1968 [April 12, 1967], No. 17466/ 68. Heading F1A. [Also in Division G3], In a fuel injection pump of the type in which an auxiliary pump piston 5 operating in synchronism with the injection pump piston 4 is connected to operate a by-pass valve 13 for the injection pump against the action of a return spring 19, the return flow of operating liquid from the by-pass valve being controlled by an adjustable throttle 25 to provide a hydraulic lock at a given speed, the bypass valve land 13b has an oblique control edge and the valve is rotatable by a substantially isochronous centrifugal governor 38. The governor sleeve 37 is connected to lever 50 pivoted at 51, one end of which engages a hydraulic damping device 44 and the other one end of a lever 52 rotatable about the axis of the valve 13 and connected thereto. The other end of lever 52 engages an adjustable stop 58 and also a pin 64 connected to a lever 61 which may be rotated to rotate the valve 13 into a position in which a groove 59 permanently by-passes the injection pump to the inlet 6 and so stop the fuel supply. The governor is driven through a flexible coupling 43. The piston 4 is also rotated and distributes to outlets 12 each having a ball valve 12a.
