Abstract

1300133 Fuel injection pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 2 March 1970 [28 Feb 1969] 9859/70 Heading F1A A fuel injection pump has a reciprocating and rotating pumping and distributing piston 3, and its delivery is regulated by a spill passage 14a, 14b controlled on the "hydraulic stop" principle by a slide valve 12 which is displaced against spring 26 by fuel from an auxiliary piston 15, the fuel returning through lines 22, 20 and via a temperature compensated variable throttle 23. The throttle cross-section may be varied by means of a threaded stem 25, or at a fixed setting of the stem, by expansion or contraction of a section 30 between the stem 25 and spool valve 24. Low temperature fuel supplied to the pump during starting causes contraction of 30 and opening of the throttle, thus delaying the "hydraulic stop" and allowing excess fuel to be delivered. In a further embodiment Fig.2 (not shown) the valve spool and stem are directly connected, and the stem attached to a segment of a disc. The disc is adjusted to cause axial movement of the stem via a pin or a further segment connecting the first segment via a thermally expansible segment.
