Abstract
1,221,762. Discharging induction furnaces. INSTITUT PROBLEM LITIA. 10 Jan., 1969, No. 1649/69. Heading F4B. [Also in Divisions H2 and H5] In a channel type induction furnace comprising a bath 1 communicating with three channels 2, 3, 4 which intersect at a common point embraced by magnetic poles produced by windings 10, 11 and core 9, and in which currents are induced in molten metal in the channels by windings 7, 8, metal is removed from the furnace by connecting a conduit 12 to the channel 4 and feeding out of phase currents to the windings 7, 8, so that molten metal flows from the bath down channels 2, 3, and up channel 4 into the conduit.
