Abstract

1,221,268. Magnetic printing. CREED & CO. Ltd. 29 May, 1969, No. 27166/69. Heading B6C. Magnetic images on the surface of drum 10 are developed by magnetizable powder 14. Magnetic rotor 19 rotates within a non-magnetic tube 17, and each time a pole N, S passes an element of the tube surface powder 3, on the tube surface, forms filaments which orient themselves along the lines of magnetic flux from the pole and the filament tips in consequence move over the tube surface in the direction C opposite to that of the movement of the poles N, S. Between the passage of poles, and at the base of the filaments, friction between the powder and the surface of the tube prevents bodily movement of the powder.
