Abstract
1,165,873. Selective printing. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 8 Feb., 1968 No. 6305/68. Heading B6F. In an electromagnetic printing apparatus the magnetic ink powder is recovered by a scavenging device comprising a rotatable non- magnetic drum 1 having at the periphery thereof a plurality of permanent or electromagnets 2, and a non-magnetic shim 11 shaped around and just clear of part of the drum so that the magnetic lines of flux which are at right angles to the axis 3 of the drum attract the ink powder at 14. The shim 11 may be metallic or non-metallic provided the effects of static charges are obviated.
