Abstract

1454707 Display devices FERRANTI Ltd 8 May 1975 19472/75 Heading G5C [Also in Division H1] A character display device has at least one element including a disc 13 selectively rotatable to show either of two contrasting sides, the disc being mounted between supports 11 extending from a base 10 with a cylindrical recess pierced at 12 to admit pole-pieces 18 of a magnetic field forming loop 17 twisted to define two areas A, B through which a current carrying cable 21 may be passed selectively, the field reversing as the area is charged. Disc 13 is rotated as a small permanent magnet 15 responds to the field reversal between poles 18. Loop 17 is of chrome or carbon steel.
