Abstract
1,014,380. Monogrammic signalling. FERRANTI Ltd. Oct. 29, 1964 [Nov. 1, 1963], No. 44144/64. Addition to 934,001. Heading G5C. The monogrammic display device disclosed in the parent Specification is modified in that each character forming element has only two faces and is provided with stop means for limiting the range of rotation of the element to less than 180 degrees whereby one face is displayed at one end of the range of rotation and the other face at the other end. As shown the element is a disc 12 carrying a permanent magnet 15 and mounted for rotation on a filament 14. The stop means are formed by pole-pieces 17 of a permanently magnetizable member passing through an electric winding 16 which is provided with reversible electric current to polarize the pole pieces 17 in the desired sense to repel and attract the poles of the magnet 15 and so rotate the disc 12.
