Abstract

1,220,625. Collapsible box pallets. UNION STEEL PRODUCTS CO. 9 July, 1968 [21 July, 1967], No. 32684/68. Heading B8H. A collapsible material handling container comprises, Fig. 4, a deck bed 11 made up of structural members 16, 17 joined at the ends to form a peripheral frame. Intermediate end and side members 18, 19 and inner members 20 are also provided, the members being welded together. A pocket P is formed at each corner by a channel section 21 welded between the members 17, 18. A leg 12, Fig. 3, provided for each pocket P, has a downwardly facing recess R and a shoulder 30 adapted to abut one of the peripheral frame members of the deck bed 11. The recesses R enable the containers to be stacked (not shown), and the legs 12 may be selectively positioned in the pockets P so that the recesses R can engage either side walls 14, Fig. 9, or end walls 15, Fig. 8a. The various hinges are formed by helical coils and, as shown in Fig. 8a, a side wall has a part 14a hinged to provide access even when containers are stacked.
