Abstract
1,220,522. Circuit breaker tripping mechanisms. MITSUBISHI DENKI K.K. 29 April, 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 20145/68. Heading H1N. On the occurrence of a small prolonged overload current, e.g. 1À25 times the rated current, plunger 4 will be attracted against spring 5 and under the control of oil in a surrounding brass cylinder 3 to a magnetic cover 6 of the cylinder 3 whereupon a pivoted tripping armature 11 will be attracted; on the occurrence of a momentary heavy overload, e.g. 5 to 10 times the rated current, the movement of plunger 4 will be damped by the oil and the tripping armature will not be attracted; but on the occurrence of a sustained heavy overload plunger 4 will be attracted towards cover 6, tripping armature 11 being attracted before the plunger 4 reaches the cover by the magnetic saturation of a shunt plate B secured to a yoke 1, such saturation diverting the flux through the cover 6 and tripping armature 11.
