Abstract

1,220,416. Compressible bottle and dispenser container; container closures. GOLDWELL G.m.b.H. CHEMISCHE FABRIK H. E. DOTTER. 3 July, 1968 [5 July, 1967; 3 May, 1968], No. 31779/68. Headings B8D and B8T. A storage bottle 1 for filling a dispensing container 7, wherein the bottle along at least part of its axial length is in the form of a compressible bellows 2 which, when an axial compression is applied to the bottle, causes liquid, e.g. a hair cosmetic, in the bottle to transfer through a take-off tube 6 in the bottle to the container. A cap or stopper 4 is inserted into the mouth 3 of the bottle, clinging in airtight fashion to the inner wall surface of the mouth and having a flange 5 overlapping the edge of the mouth. The take-off tube proceeds from an aperture 15 in the base of the stopper. A cavity in the stopper has two diametrically opposite projections 14 extending inwardly from the wall and accommodates the neck and closure cap 8 of the dispensing container 7. The head 9 of the closure cap has an axial bore 10 constituting a passage duct through which the container is filled and emptied. A substantially cylindrical sleeve 13 is drawn over the head and covers an air passage aperture 12 communicating with an air tube 11. When the head of the container is inserted into the cavity in the stopper of the bottle the sleeve is compressed laterally by the projections to assume an elliptical cross-section whereby the air passage aperture is exposed. If the dispensing container is then forced down, the bellows compress and liquid is forced up through the tube 6 and into the container, while air passes down tube 11 and escapes through aperture 12. Any excess liquid is forced down the air tube, collects in the cavity and flows back into the bottle through the aperture 15 after removal of the container. A screw cap with an inserted sealing disc may be affixed on to the externally threaded neck. The projections in the stopper may be made to embrace and retain (Fig. 2, not shown) the head of the dispensing container and a cover 17 provided to seat on a shoulder 18 immediately below the bellows. More than two projections may be formed, symmetrically disposed in the cavity of the stopper. The bottle and take-off tube may be made of a plastics material.
