Abstract

1,220,353. Flail mowers. A. C. BAMLETT Ltd., 28 Aug., 1968 [27 Oct., 1967], No. 49057/67. Heading A1F. In a flail mower a flail shaft 1 carries a number of flails 7 having cranked ends 8 and being freely pivotable about pins 6 which are oblique to the axis of rotation of the flail shaft 1. Thus, when a flail meets an obstruction, it pivots about pin 6 to lift clear of the obstruction, a stop 9 being provided to limit rotation of the flail. Two flail shafts may be provided which contra-rotate.
