Abstract

1,195,607. Mowing machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. 2 April, 1968 [7 April, 1967], No. 15837/68. Heading A1F. A mowing machine consists of mowing elements 6 rotatable about vertical axes and arranged in pairs, and is characterized in that at least one element (one in each pair in the illustration) can deflect against resilient opposition, e.g. spring 24, to change the distances between a pair. The outer elements, which are deflectable, are mounted on arms 5 and are held in normal position by springs 24 and stops 25. Blades 11 are mounted on conical drums 8 of the elements 6 rotating about shafts 7 and the whole frame bears on ground by a dished member 12 on the lowermost end of each shaft 7. The drive consists of the input shaft 28 connectable to power take-off shaft of a pulling tractor, bevel gears 13, 14, 18, 19, shafts 16 and chain drives 21. The drums 8 are mounted on sleeves turnable about the shaft 7. In an example, the drums are resiliently mounted on the said sleeves by deflectable curved spring-steel rods.
