Abstract
1,218,218. Rod mills. BUREAU DE RECHERCHES GEOLOGIQUES ET MINIERES. 21 May, 1968 [26 May, 1967], No. 24236/ 68. Heading B2A. A rotatable cylindrical drum 1, Fig. 1, containing free cylindrical or prismatic bars 2 comprises stringers 12, 13, Fig. 6 secured to terminal walls 4, 4a to form a cage, at least two rings or girdles 5 on the inside of the cage to form a runway for the bars and a screen 11 surrounding the cage. The rings 5 may each be in the form of an inner and outer ring, the inner ring being of replaceable wear-resistant material. The rings are such that the bars are spaced from the inner wall of the drum by a distance exceeding the dimensions of the particles to be crushed; and thus the bars crush the material between themselves and not against the drum wall. The drum may be fitted with pockets 8 or ribs 9, Fig. 4. The stringers or bars 13 scrape and lift the products accumulated at the bottom of the drum.
